# Best Via Ferrata Sets Source: https://climbingnest.com/best/best-via-ferrata-sets Updated: 2026-09-15 Publisher: Climbing Nest. Our score is an editorial rating out of 10 (fit 35%, features 25%, build 20%, value 20%), not a customer rating. Method: https://climbingnest.com/how-we-research#our-score A via ferrata set is not optional equipment, and it is not something to improvise from slings. Falls on a steel cable can generate enormous forces, and only a set with a certified energy absorber can bring those forces down to survivable levels. Modern sets differ in absorber design, lanyard elasticity and length, carabiner gate style and size, swivel quality to prevent twisted lanyards, and the certified user weight range, which matters for lighter and heavier climbers alike. We weighed absorber certification, carabiner handling with gloves and fatigue, lanyard elasticity and stowed length, swivel performance, weight, and comfort over long routes. Sets with large, easy-action gates suit beginners and families; lighter compact sets suit experienced ferratists moving fast. Buy only sets certified to EN 958, check that your body weight with pack falls inside the certified range, inspect the absorber before every outing, and retire any set that has caught a fall. Check the manufacturer's site for recalls, as several older sets have been withdrawn over the years. ## Picks ### 1. C.A.M.P.
